Cheerfulness In a Vase on Monday

Does anyone else walk around carrying a vase and a camera trying to get a good shot? Oh for a north facing window with a nice surround!

I cut some 'Cheerfulness' Narcissus thinking I'd put them in a vase on their own, but it is spring, after all, so I chose a few things to go with them.

These are one of my favourite kinds. I need to plant more next year though. I have some but plenty room for more. Let me know your favourites so I can start making a list. If they come back year after year, all the better.

It's all in a rather lovely new vase which was a recent find in a local second hand warehouse.

I added some flat leaf Parsley, a few red wallflowers, Pulmonaria, Spirea foliage and the Pieris-which- keep-on-giving.
I've just realised that you can't see the vase so here is another view. It has a fluted top.

We've had a weekend of sun with a chilly wind and spring is here - officially and in real life. Little leaves are forming and buds are breaking. The chill is to remind us that it is still March and not to get carried away!
It's the best time of year.

  1. Oh that is a pretty new glass vase that you have found, Alison, and the pieris flowers are spot-on with the narcissi and the overall shape of the display is lovely. Thanks for sharing

  2. Well done, Alison. The arrangement sings of Spring. 'White Lion', a late bloomer, is one of my favorite daffodils. I like 'Geranium' too. I planted it in the Fall of 2017 and it's really taking off this year.

  3. Oh yes, that chill is an icy reminder here too Alison! Love your vase and Cheerfulness are one of my favourites too, I think I had a Cheerfulness White once too. My other favourites are Thalia and N. poeticus 'Actaea', which is a single white bloom with a yellow centre edged with orange and has a lovely scent. :)

    1. Yes I do like Thalia. Scent is always a bonus especially in spring. I'll be checking for that.

  4. That vase is a great find....with the round bottom and a narrow top, a very good shape. Nice collection of plants. I have the small multi headed Narcissi Hawera just coming into flower, fine and dandy!

  5. I like the unique shape of your new vase Alison. A most aptly named narcissus. My favourites are Thalia, Elka and Jenny :)
