Let's pretend it's spring In a Vase on Monday

Last week we were wearing 5 layers and the bitter winds went right through them, this weekend we were out in shirt sleeves!
I'm sure we are not out of the woods yet but let's pretend that it is Spring.

Last autumn, very late, I bought a pack of hyacinth bulbs - possibly reduced. I planted each on in a separate pot and kept them in my polytunnel. When the first buds showed I brought three into the house. They never got terribly tall perhaps as they were kept cool. I've enjoyed them for weeks and these are the last three. They have smelt delicious in the house and polytunnel. Well worth the few pounds .

Also some nameless Narcissus, primula and Corydalis foliage. I brought the willow twigs in a few weeks ago. I don't remember doing it but now they have dainty flowers.

  1. Your arrangement is so very pretty and is pretending that it's spring beaufifully. Love the blue and gold combination!

  2. Your hyacinths are such a lovely blue and sitting besides the yellow daffodils make both the colours stand out. It's amazing what a difference a week has made. Happy gardening.

  3. I think I'm missing something by not growing hyacinths. Hopefully, next fall, I'll remember your brilliant blue blooms and bring home some bulbs of my own.

  4. I'm with you...let's pretend it's spring since the flowers are delayed here and cold/rain/snow is coming back next week.

  5. Yes, a good idea! And so is planting the hycinths in separate pots - when planting bulbe together they can be most uncooperative about flowering at the same time ;) I must work harder at keeping mine cool next year as this seems to make such a difference. That little blue vase is very pretty - have we seen it before?

  6. Lovely spring vignette with the yellow and blue. The narcissi may be 'Jetfire.' I forced some this year, too.

  7. I think it really is spring, not just pretend! That is the second vase I have seen with willow stems, and I really love them. But of course the narcissi and hyacinths take the limelight. :) Lovely!
