Sunshine in a vase on Monday

A new week and time to create new vases and share with appreciative blogging friends. For interesting and creative vases visit Cathy at Rambling in the Garden - In a vase on Monday.
These violas were volunteers growing under some plants I was moving. They are quite an unusual lemon yellow colour and I don't remember ever having one like this but I suppose I must have done. I hope I've saved the plant to put somewhere else but cut some flowers to enjoy for now.
So I have these to enjoy in the kitchen for a few days.

A quick dash out between showers for this second vase.

In the vase:
Pyracantha which attacks whenever we try to get to our shed but is in full bloom just now.
A few Nigella not quite open yet. Impatient, me?
Sweet pink Sweet William
Parsley again - it's really coming out this week.
Cirsium - I don't know how it will last in a vase but I'll find out now.
It's a dismal wet and windy day which is good for all the new planting out but not so good for the spirit. I think we've had all of April's rain today.

  1. Both are very pretty, Alison. I love the new-to-me burgundy Cirsium. I hope you find they do well in the vase - they make such a nice complement for the Dianthus.

    1. I admired it in someone's garden and one day found a piece in a bag on my doorstep! It has since moved house with me.

  2. I echo Kris with the Cirsium - very pretty with the pink Dianthus. Love the clear yellow violas in the cobalt vase!

    1. Blue and yellow is always a winner. I went to buy blue and yellow for one of my pots and came back with dark red and silver. Hmm.

  3. I love a simple blue and yellow combination, and have a small blue bottle collection so I love the top arrangement. What could be better than sweet william? both vases are beauties.Hope they last for you.

    2. Sweet William lasts for a good two weeks in a vase. I still have last week's without all the other things.

  4. What an astonishly clear and plain yellow viola - which looks spot on with the blue jug. And the froth of the unopened nigella in your second vase is especially fetching, along with the parsley. Do let us know how the cirsium does

  6. As everyone says, the viola is perfect with that blue vase! Do let us know about the Cirsium. It's a beauty with the sweet william. Do you have a name for it. Lovely vases, both!

    1. No I don't have name for either of these, as I said above, the Cirsium was from someone's garden. Thank you.
