Autumnal colours In a Vase on Monday

Don't mondays come round quickly?
I chose oranges this week as I wanted to pick Dahlia Bishop of Oxford. He is looking very good just now despite being swamped by other things. He'll be getting more space next year.

Showing off with him are Rudbekia Green Eyes, Dahlia Labyrinth, Chrysanthemum, Mahonia leaves and Cotoneaster.

It's a very cheerful vase to have in the room giving a bright splash of colour.

I've remembered my prop this week (not required but fun). Munchkin pumpkins which are very cute. I'm very pleased that they germinated, grew, made it to adult hood and produced fruit. I trained them up inadequate supports so they grew half upright and half sprawled. The fruits are light so training them upwards is a good use of space. Again, they'll be better next year.

I've got some pink roses I wanted to pick too but no time. Perhaps tomorrow.

  1. This arrangement is bright and cheerful but also calming. The pale oranges mixed with blue are a delight. You've such a great eye for color!

    1. Well, thank you. I'm enjoying the colour while we still have it.

  2. The range of peachy colours works well, and the rudbeckia fits in with the rest of them - vey pretty. I have branched out with Bishop of Leicester this year; he is white with more than just a hint of lilac/pink.

  4. Nice flowers...but I love the way the vase is the calm centre with light reflecting off the water surface showing off clear stems. Lovely photograph. As for those little pumpkins...so cute!

  5. I'm very impressed that you grew your own mini-pumpkins! I buy all my pumpkins and, even then, hesitate to do so until near Halloween as the critters, usually squirrels in this case, chew through the fruits virtually overnight. Your vase sings of autumn. And 'Labyrinth' is most definitely on my list of "must find" tubers to try next year.

    1. My larger squashes have not done well but that won't stop me trying again next year. The little ones have been surprisingly easy and have not been eaten (I hope I don't speak too soon!) I hope you find a Labyrinth.

    1. They are. They are edible too but will I eat them or not?

  8. If that is your kitchen it is much more suitable for photos than mine. Lovely bouquet.
