In my Granny's tea cup on Monday

I've made a tiny arrangement today inspired by something I saw in a shop window. A great idea for centrepieces or perhaps just if you have a small table or shelf and tea sets are right back in fashion. The water does disappear quickly so needs regular topping up.

I think a few slightly larger flowers would have made a good contrast perhaps all the flowers are too similar in size. The grass gives a lovely movement though.
This tea set belonged to my Granny. She bought it to use when people visited. I always loved her everyday set which was white with spots. My mother now has Granny's wedding china which is white and gold. It's very special and NOT ONE PIECE IS BROKEN. I think the wedding was in the 1920s. I am too scared to touch that.

I used lots of small things in the teacup which I don't have time to list but do ask if you'd like details

I'm joining in with Cathy for In a Vase on Monday as usual. Creative and inspiring vases are shared every week.

  3. Very sweet, a perfect collection of tiny treasures for summer tea. It's heartening to hear that tea sets are back in fashion as I've always enjoyed looking at them. There is something very welcoming about a pot of tea, meant to be shared and your delightful arrangement.

    1. Sadly the spotty set gradually got broken but I swear tea tasted better from it. Perhaps it was the fact that we had to drive 400 miles to visit my grandparents and that was what was special.

  6. The delicate china tea cup and saucer were meant to be combined with those flowers, Alison! The tiny compositions are always among my favorites - a good reminder that I should try one someday soon.

    1. Yes there is. Sometimes a bit of ceremony and slowing down is important.

  9. It's a lovely arrangement, and I think you were very clever to get the flowers to stand up just as you wanted in such a small 'vase'! I love old chinaware, but we sadly don't have much left from family tea sets!

    1. I added a network of leaves first to hold things together. This is a small set of 4 but I feel lucky to have it.
