Surprise posy In a Vase on Monday

Surprise as I wasn't expecting to find anything much to go in my vase. Instead I was able to pick a cheerful posy which promises that spring might be coming.

I knew the Tete-a-Tete narcissus were flowering and the hellebores have revived after their covering of snow.

In remember this one being particularly pretty last year and it has thrown up more flowers this year so hopefully it is settling in.

Mahonia flowers add some scent and pulmonaria some lovely blue and pink. They too suffered but are rallying.
Many of the evergreen shrubs are looking worse for wear but this reliable Ceanothus was able to provide some green foliage.

I'm joining in with Cathy at Rambling in the Garden and her inventive band of followers who always have something creative to show In a Vase on Monday.
I have the luxury of time for posting this morning rather than rushing off to work. MrC and I have the week off so there is no excuse for not having the garden whipped into shape by next weekend. The list of jobs is long so we will see how that goes.

  1. A really lovely vase - the pinks, yellows, purples and blues go well together. I moved our Ceanothus to a new spot yesterday so am hoping it is happy and will still flower for us this year!

    1. Thank you. Yes, lets hope so. My experience of them is that they are pretty tough and hard to upset.

  3. Alison this is so sweet and such a survivor vase....my flowers are still underground and tight in any bud as they are still covered with snow!

    1. Your winter is so different from ours. It's mostly chilly and wet! I'm sure your flowers are getting ready to bloom.

  4. Nice to know that old man winter's latest visit didn't destroy the beauty of your garden. Your vase is full of the promise of spring!

  5. Oh definitely cheerful and promising with the spring-like colours against the pristine white vase - this will certainly generate a few smiles, I am sure. Good luck with your list of jobs for this week and I hope that your weather forecast is rather better than ours (although ours has chnaged and we might not have rain EVERY day!)

    1. Thank you. We'll have to get on with the jobs regardless. Today (Tuesday) was amazing and much better than forecast. The sun came out and we took off our coats!

  6. That is a lovely collection of blooms..still today in the lee of the hedges there is snow where deep drifts must have formed. Your large tunnel must be a welcome refuge from the showers.

    1. Yes we still have some snow in hedges, I find it amazing how long it can last. The tunnel is wonderful and soon warms up at this time of year.

  8. If spring hasn't yet arrived, then it's just around the corner, Alison! I adore that speckled hellebore. It's looking increasingly unlikely than any of my hellebores are going to bloom this year (other than the plant that produced a couple of blooms shortly after it was planted). Oh well, maybe the weather will be more hospitable next year...

    1. That's a shame but we gardener are patient folk and always talk of next year. I suppose they prefer the cool.

  10. Oh that vase sings of spring Alison and the vase itself is a most pleasing shape. Hope that you manage to tick off all the jobs on your list this week but make sure that you leave some time to play too.
