I've already been rewarded with weeks of flowers and popped a few in a gift posy last week. (The only one I've done so far this year). Now that the seeds are setting, I think it's save to cut a few.
As usual some close ups:
Will I feel the need to buy more this year when they are in stock?
Thanks to Cathy for hosting In a Vase on Monday over at Rambling in the Garden.
Oh yes Alison! I don't think you will be able to help yourself from buying more! I bought a deep wine red one, from Lidl, a few weeks ago! I have had to tuck it away to keep it safe from the howling winds but it is flowering happily. I will give it a place of its own once the weather improves. The inclination to go and do anything in the garden is at zero - still! One day spring will come and won't it be lovely! Delightful hellebores - thank you! Amanda Tête-à-Tête
ReplyDeleteThey are much hardier than they look, aren't they? Continuous rain here today, I don't think it will ever improve!
DeleteHellebores are just catching on here in the states. You don't find many varieties other than what yours look like. But when they are the first significant blooms of the year, I don't care if they are all pink. I love them and yours are just beautiful. Can hardly wait for ours to bloom, but they don't usually bloom until Lent, so a few more weeks to go for sure. Thanks for sharing yours.
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful and perhaps you will begin to get all the varieties too. Sometimes they seed around which is fun.
DeleteLove the way the blooms branch and arch. The form and colour are lovely...from L, or A?
ReplyDeleteNeither, it was B&M! Opposite Dobbies.
DeleteYes of course, I must watch out for the seeds setting so I can cut some of mine with greater confidence in them holding up in a vase. Good to see a generous number in yours today. I have really splashed out on hellebores this year, thinking of it as an investment, and they made a good impact at the opening - Morrisons had several this year for £2.99, but mostly niger and viridis and the like, rather than 'colours'
ReplyDeleteDefinitely and investment! They flower for weeks and the plants usually last for years, don't they?
DeleteIt's a looker! With just a few successes with hellebores (after a very long wait following my first purchases), I'm going into collector mode with these plants myself.
ReplyDeleteOh that's a rather nice looking hellebore Alison. Well spotted!
