Noelle and I visited and spent a happy admiring all the plants. I wonder how much one of everything would have cost? There weren't many things I wouldn't have wanted. ( I was quite restrained). Then it was off to Noelle's for coffee and delicious cake and I came away with more plants. I have lots of plans for planting now but had no time so far. Today it's very wet but looks as though it may dry up later.
Here are some of the wondrous dahlias growing in my patch this year.
Pinks first. L-R Miracle Princess, Jowey Mirella, Karma Lagoon, Rip City, NOT Creme de Cassis as it is supposed to be.

What fantastic colours Alison! They really are like jewels - fabulous! I admire all the bloggers on Monday who know the Latin names and varieties of all their flowers. I don't know any! My 'vase' this week is a one dimensional, but the colours smack of Autumn. Yes, it's come round already! Amanda

The colours are amazing and so special as we turn towards the end of the season. I just have a knack for remembering the latin names. Except a few which I have a mental block with. Yes, it is starting to feel like autumn, perhaps more so for you. We are getting chilly evenings and mornings but often warm days. Not today though, it didn't stop raining but I managed to do a few jobs outside.

ReplyDeleteI am inspired also be seeing Noelle's garden which is transformed since I first went there. I've made a small start but there is plenty of time now to get it all done.
DeleteI love both your mixes, Alison. Most of these varieties are unknown to me. I should think more in terms of what might mix well with what when I choose the varieties to grow next year. I'm enamored with 'Ginger Snap'.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I just choose by what I like! I tried to get a colour range but some of the flowers are too large to use easily. I love Ginger Snap. It was a substitution by Peter Nyssen, in fact I think it was a freebie. It's not too large and gorgeous colours.
