My trouble is that I sow a pot of seeds then prick them all out in case they don't all grow. Then they do all grow so I have to plant them or what would I do with them? I never remember how big things get in August. Let's start planning for next year now :)AlisonChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05581689773980266031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059858774072695860.post-48452594368455136522017-09-07T15:52:05.879+01:002017-09-07T15:52:05.879+01:00Oh what a pretty blushing rose Alison and I do lik...Oh what a pretty blushing rose Alison and I do like those alliums too. Do they self-seed about? It was most interesting to read about your cutting beds. I've done the same thing too with cramming too many cosmos in a raised bed at the allotment. Two plants of 'Psyche White' instead of four would have been sufficient given that I've also got two pink and one orange cosmos. I've never managed the art of spacing. Oh well there's always next year :)Annahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10794392333038962798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059858774072695860.post-36587339205213564102017-09-06T20:51:00.855+01:002017-09-06T20:51:00.855+01:00It does make most things pretty but others look sa...It does make most things pretty but others look sad and bedraggled. I expect it would keep well in a vase, most alliums do with changes in water and fresh snips. Do they grow OK for you, and come bac each year? I must check the Peter Nyssen catalogue nd see if they have them although it is probably too late to add to my order for this year. Great to see your cutting beds and to read your feedback - each year I learn more from mine, particularly which plants to partner up. My zinnias are being swamped by cosmos this year!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059858774072695860.post-252706069534231092017-09-04T20:59:22.164+01:002017-09-04T20:59:22.164+01:00The Alliums are lovely Alison... Alliums in general don't do well here but I'm determined to try growing some (again). Thanks for sharing your experiences, good and bad, with your cutting garden too. This is the first year I've had one, having given the raised planters in what was my vegetable garden over to flowers this year. I did too little too late on supporting the stems so everything is flopping all over the place but I'm going to try netting and other supports, especially for the heavier than expected dahlias, next year.Kris Petersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07097260283693156795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059858774072695860.post-2683076451511182822017-09-04T19:54:23.342+01:002017-09-04T19:54:23.342+01:00I am interested to see alliums flowering so late.....I am interested to see alliums flowering so late...the close up detail is delightful.Stasherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02616094223215469144noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5059858774072695860.post-24412793625174569172017-09-04T19:43:34.645+01:002017-09-04T19:43:34.645+01:00Love the way we gardeners can cherish a broken blo...Love the way we gardeners can cherish a broken blossom....And admire dew and raindrops.
